Liberal Ideologies

I challenge you to read the following statements with an honest and reasonable mind. Now, I know you liberals could probably come up with your own list, but hey, this is my blog and I can post what I like (at least for now). By the way, this list was sent to me via email and here it is!
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by documented cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach fourth graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison, and A.G. Bell.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been In charge.

18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House.

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States

21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy.

22. You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers the day off on Christmas Day but it's not okay to say "Merry Christmas."

Now, that is what it takes to be a good liberal.

Remember me

This is a piece written by Rev. Benny Still, Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Grand Bay, AL and a dear friend.

"When one of the thieves being crucified with Jesus acknowledged Him as the Son of God and Savior of all Mankind, he asked Jesus to REMEMBER him when He came into His kingdom. Jesus told him, "Today you will be with Me in Paradise!" (Luke 23:42-43)
In studying the ancient cultures of the day...and doing some background work on the word "REMEMBER," we discover that actually its connotation is the opposite of the word "DISMEMBER".
Here in the South, when something upsets us or frustrates us, often you'll hear us say, "that just tears me up!" When we are all torn up over something, we need time to somehow get ourselves back together. We back up and regroup and try to analyze the situation(s) and deal with our problem and "pull ourselves together!"
I've read that one of the punishments used for crimes committed in ancient times and in medieval times often involved the perpetrator being drawn and quartered--DISMEMBERED!!! Physically torn apart...torn to pieces resulting in their horribly painful deaths!
So, apparently the thief on the cross who trusted Jesus on that "Good Friday" so long ago knew that his life, for all practical purposes, was just about over...and that he had lived a life that resulted in the dismemberment of all that he held dear. For him to ask Jesus to "REMEMBER" him...tells me that he realized that Jesus could put him back together...wherever the pieces had been scattered...whatever the problems that had dismembered his spirit...he could totally rely on Jesus.
Some of you reading this may have lost limbs, appendages (fingers/toes/ears) etc. and you know of the phantom pain that such loss brings. Some of you have lost family members, seen children and grandchildren and spouses go astray. You understand personally what it feels like to have your soul/spirit/heart to be torn asunder...DISMEMBERED...if you will!!! May I suggest to you today as we get ready to celebrate the resurrection of our Master from the grave this Sunday morning...on Easter...that we ask Him to REMEMBER us too?
The late Dottie Rambo wrote, "Pick up the broken pieces and bring them to the Lord...He will put them back together and make your life complete...Just bring the broken pieces to the Savior's feet!!!!" What a joy to know that when we are "dis-membered" He is ready and willing to RE-member us and make our lives complete!!!
Happy Easter...and be sure and attend the Christian Church of your choice this weekend!
